Armstrong Plans for Housing Growth
Like many communities across Ontario, the Township of Armstrong is experiencing growth pressures and increased demand for housing.
Located in Timiskaming District, the Township is exploring options for a new residential subdivision including the required infrastructure to support municipal services like drinking water, energy, roads, and sidewalks.
A feasibility study is currently being conducted using $30,000 from the Canada Community-Building Fund to move forward on this key priority. The study will provide clear options for land development as well as guide opportunities for innovation such as integrating tiny homes to increase affordability.
The Township originally experienced growth in the early 1900s due to its strong agricultural market, referred to by some as the “Dairy Centre of the North.” The market remains strong today and is planning for more growth in the near future, of humans and cattle alike.
