The Asset Management Adventure

Whether you are an elected official or a municipal staff member, you each have a different yet critical role in managing the community’s infrastructure so that it continues to provide safe, sustainable, secure services in a seamless, cost-effective manner both now and into the future. Around 100 elected officials and senior staff representing more than 25 municipalities from Niagara Region, Northumberland County and Renfrew County participated in AMO’s asset management workshops last week.

These workshops provided an overview of asset management for sustainable service delivery and discussed the evolving role of elected officials and municipal staff.

Municipal councillors were encouraged to have a leadership mindset for engaging their communities. This involved articulating the real cost of providing services and setting realistic expectations around service levels while determining capital investment priorities.
