Aurora Addressing Pedestrian Safety

The Town of Aurora is keeping pedestrians safe with enhanced crosswalks.

With investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund, the Town improved the crosswalk at the intersection of Henderson Drive and Tamarac Trail/Lee Gate, adding additional safety measures for people crossing the street.

Improvements include retrofitting the existing pedestrian crosswalk with a new overhead mounted crosswalk sign that features flashing lights. These lights are intended to alert drivers of people crossing the street, making the intersection safer for both drivers and pedestrians.

The Town also trimmed back trees at the intersection to ensure everyone can clearly see the crosswalk, lights and signage and that people waiting to cross are aware of oncoming traffic.
