Brantford Builds Accessible Community Garden

The City of Brantford used $370,000 from the CCBF to build a multi-purpose garden at Woodman Community Centre.

Partnering with local non-profit Equal Grounds, the City developed a sustainable and inclusive space that supports biodiversity and provides local residents with fresh food.

The space includes 52 wheelchair-accessible garden beds, a variety of fruit trees, pollinator gardens, a greenhouse, and a storage shed, all centred around a gathering space with a gazebo.

The space is useable year-round thanks to an on-site greenhouse. It’s a great place for education on food, nutrition, and the environment that is open to people of all abilities.
