Capacity Building in Strathroy-Caradoc

The Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc is proactively planning for the future.

Using investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund, Strathroy-Caradoc is undertaking a full inspection and condition assessment of its bridges, culverts and tunnels.

The Municipality maintains 48 bridges and major culverts. The replacement value of this infrastructure is estimated to be $40 million.

Currently, more than 25 percent of the structures are at or approaching their life expectancy, and more than 75 percent of the Municipality's bridges, culverts and tunnels are more than 50 years old.

The Municipality estimates within the next five to 10 years, it will invest $10 million into infrastructure upgrades.

This capacity building exercise will assist the municipality in prioritizing key infrastructure upgrades over the next decade, and ensure its council and staff have the right tools to budget accordingly.
