Double Bridge Rehabilitation in Adjala-Tosorontio

The Towship of Adjala-Tosorontio is investing more than $500,000 from the Canada Community-Building Fund into the rehabilitation of two bridges in the municipality in 2022 and 2023.

The municipality has started work on Bridge 28 that spans the Nottawasaga River on Adjala Road 20 to extend its lifespan and improve service to residents. Work on the bridge will include improvements to the existing concrete structure, along with waterproofing and paving the surface. Additionally, a new side-mounted barrier and guide rail are being added to boost safety for drivers and provide a wider driving area.

In another part of the municipality, on Concession Road 6, an entirely new bridge was installed in 2022. Adjala-Tosorontio took a proactive approach to installing a new two-lane bridge, as the municipality is anticipating new housing developments in the future. The former bridge was a single-lane structure in very poor condition. The new bridge will accommodate higher volumes of traffic and the roadway will be ready for new residents.
