Essex Extends the Life of Several County Roads
More than 1,500 lane-kilometres across seven local municipalities make up Essex County’s road network.
These roads support local and regional economies by transporting people and commercial goods. Located along an international border, there is a particularly high volume of transportation in the area.
Using a $2.5 million investment from the CCBF, Essex resurfaced 27.6 lane-kilometres of county roads to improve safety, comfort, and durability. Deteriorated pavement was replaced leading to a smoother driving surface, and newly added paved shoulders increase active transportation opportunities.
