Halton Region Upgrades Skyway Wastewater Treatment Plant to Support Growth

New infrastructure upgrades at Halton Region’s Skyway Wastewater Treatment Plant will support the growing community of Burlington, while upholding strict environmental mandates.

Halton Region is investing $7.3 million in upgrades with an additional $2.3 million in support from the Canada Community-Building Fund.

The facility treats wastewater from the City of Burlington, ensuring the treated water is safely and responsibly returned to Lake Ontario. With completion expected for summer 2025, the improvements will enhance the facility’s operations and improve the effectiveness of wastewater treatment, while also extending the lifespan of the facility.

This is part of the Region’s multi-year infrastructure plan to Build a Better Halton. Check out the latest projects at halton.ca/construction or follow @regionofhalton across all social media platforms.
