Hilliard Upgrades Furnace in Public Works Garage

Many municipalities are looking at ways to reduce their environmental footprint, trading out unsustainable and costly heating systems for affordable, higher efficiency options.

That’s why the Township of Hilliard used $15,000 from the CCBF to upgrade the furnace in its public works garage.

Previously, the Township relied on an oil furnace that ran almost non-stop to keep the garage warm in colder months. It was outdated and becoming unserviceable, making repairs and maintenance difficult and costly. Now, it’s been replaced with two efficient propane furnaces that save on both costs and energy usage while providing a reliable source of heat.

The Township’s plow truck and road grader are both stored in the garage, and staff noted they had trouble starting the machinery when the garage wasn’t kept warm. With the new furnace, this isn’t an issue. The new furnace allows public works staff to stay warm and makes the garage a more comfortable and functional workspace.
