Huntsville Building Assessment Improves Safety and Longevity of Municipal Buildings
Enhancing public safety, extending longevity of assets, and efficiently allocating funds are all priorities for the Town of Huntsville.
Located north of Lake Simcoe with a population of 21,000, the Town owns and operates 34 municipal buildings. To meet their priorities, the Town used $85,000 from the CCBF to conduct a comprehensive assessment of building conditions.
Data from the assessment will be used to improve the quality of the Town’s asset management plan which will inform future financial decisions. The assessment created a complete inventory of the condition of buildings and facilities owned by the Town. It helped identify assets that are aging or deteriorating, their lifecycle costs, and the best plan to renew or maintain them long-term.
The buildings included in the assessment were community centres, utility buildings, libraries, fire halls, recreation facilities, outdoor pavilions, and more. Huntsville’s facilities help support essential service delivery for the community, and with the new data collection the Town will be able to maintain them more efficiently into the future.
