Improvements to Tennis Facilities in Cornwall

The City of Cornwall is serving up large scale improvements to sports facilities in the coming year.

Five tennis facilities in parks throughout the city will be upgraded over then next few years using investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund. The courts currently have poor lighting and deteriorating playing surfaces.

In 2022, the City will focus on courts at Kinsmen Park and Broadview Park. At Broadview, the City will also be dedicating a portion of the courts to pickleball, a sport similar to tennis. These two courts will be upgraded first, with three more to follow over the next three years.

Existing lighting will be replaced with energy-efficient LED fixtures. The new fixtures will reduce electricity consumption, require less maintenance, and last longer than the current metal halide fixtures. The court surfaces will also be rehabilitated with a new smooth asphalt coating.

Sports and recreational facilities are an important part of Ontario’s communities. In the City of Cornwall, upgrades to the city’s tennis facilities will save on energy costs and improve user experience.
