Larder Lake Mitigates Flooding and Lowers Energy Use with Treatment Plant Upgrades

Dewatering pumps make a big impact in preventing flooding of basements and municipal facilities during intense weather events.

With the help of a $100,000 CCBF investment, Larder Lake’s public works department purchased a mobile dewatering pump to aid in flood-mitigation efforts. The pump will provide important capacity that will allow the Township’s water treatment plant to better manage heavy water flow.

The pump is designed to remove unwanted water from designated areas. This is especially handy in major weather events, or when a watermain breaks. It also provides some relief for the public works staff who have many other important responsibilities during a flood.
