Leading the Charge in Port Colborne

Port Colborne has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging network thanks to the Build Communities Strong Fund Community stream.

Charging stations were installed at four locations in 2025, and they have seen strong usage so far.

The City is making this investment to encourage EV ridership and fight climate change.

“[The charging stations] are a great addition to the many green initiatives we have here in Port Colborne, including electrifying many of our own Public Works vehicles,” said Mayor William Steele. “We look forward to welcoming more EV drivers while we continue to make positive environmental changes in all we do.”

The stations are located at a local park, public square, municipal parking lot, and a health and wellness centre. Each of the four sites includes two charging ports, allowing up to eight vehicles to charge simultaneously.

The charging network supports the City’s broader sustainability and climate goals while improving convenience for EV drivers and enhancing Port Colborne’s appeal as a visitor destination. They allow visitors to extend their trips and spend more time exploring the area.
