Oshawa Completes Energy Assessments of City Buildings

The City of Oshawa is focused on reducing their energy consumption, emissions, and spending. That’s why the City invested $44,000 from the CCBF to conduct energy audits of city-owned buildings that will guide future projects and operations.

Assessments considered the needs of residents, visitors, and staff in finding opportunities to improve both energy efficiency and user experience.

Results were beneficial to determining the need for updated HVAC systems, control panels, lighting upgrades, and building envelopes – a term used to describe the overall airflow and insulation in a building. The results also contribute to speeding up the process of identifying optimal future upgrades.

Analysis of the results also helps city management to take full advantage of existing assets such as building automation systems.

The project overall will help the City meet emission reduction targets, optimize maintenance routines, and determine where to focus investments most appropriately.
