Pool Renovation Improves Accessibility in Windsor
Municipal recreation offerings have evolved significantly since the 1950s.
Improvements in safety, accessibility, and the number of activities make modern recreational facilities – including community pools – great spaces for residents to enjoy.
The City of Windsor’s local community pool and change rooms at Lanspeary Park were originally constructed in the 1950s and 60s and are in dire need of replacement.
The facility has been modernized to have barrier-free access, meet updated building codes and design standards, and provide expanded programming options.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says the newly upgraded pool opening represents the City’s commitment to “investing in growth to increase quality of life and provide opportunities for healthy and active living.”
Approximately $1 million of the $3 million project was funded by the CCBF, with the shared goal of building a more healthy and inclusive community. Windsor’s first ever outdoor pool will continue to be enjoyed by future generations thanks to this investment.
