Port Colborne Supports New Affordable Housing with Park Upgrade

41 units of affordable housing were recently built in Port Colborne, designed to provide a safe and energy-efficient environment for seniors and families.

Bordering on that development is Lockview Park, which reopened in summer 2025 after undergoing significant upgrades thanks in part to a $204,000 investment from the CCBF.

For the people living next door, access to the waterfront park and its amenities is a bonus. The main highlight for kids is the brand new CCBF-funded playground. The park also features a basketball court, walking paths, benches, a gazebo for picnics and family gatherings, and lots of trees and open greenspace.

“I often tell folks about our amazing parks here in Port Colborne, and this freshly renovated and exciting space is one more example of that,” said Mayor William Steele at the ribbon cutting ceremony. “It fits in perfectly to our strategic pillar of having a welcoming, livable and healthy community, and I know it will be enjoyed for a wide variety of uses for generations to come.”
