Richmond Hill Replaces Pool Filtration System, Reducing Carbon Footprint and Waste

The City of Richmond Hill invested the Canada Community-Building Fund into the replacement of the filtration system for the Bayview Hill pool. The pool is important to Richmond Hill residents, with the city offering programs like swimming lessons, aquafit classes, and drop-in classes. In 2023, there were more than 68,000 registered participants.

The Bayview Hill Pool opened in 1992 and is part of a 55,000 square foot public recreation facility. After 30 years the system was showing signs of wear. The filtration system was replaced with an updated design, which is more water conscious and aligns with the City’s commitment to environmental sustainability, including water conservation and reducing waste.

Thanks to this investment from the CCBF, the city is able to reduce its carbon footprint while providing recreational activities to its residents.
