Safety Measures for Schools Created in West Nipissing

John Street in West Nipissing provides access to two elementary schools, a daycare, a multi-use recreation centre, and a long-term care facility.

Naturally, safety is a priority in this area, especially for the many children who walk and bike to school and daycare, alongside their peers and parents.

A CCBF investment of $530,000 enabled the municipality to implement traffic calming measures along John Street, which help slow traffic and sometimes even provides ways to lower the volume of cars on the road in a specific area.

In addition to safety measures, the municipality repaved the road, installed storm sewers, extended sidewalks, and added sidewalk ramps. Further improvements to the area are planned for the coming years.
