Sault Ste. Marie Rehabilitates Storm Sewers
Several sections of storm sewers in Sault Ste. Marie were identified by the City as needing rehabilitation due to stress on the system from sinkholes and groundwater infiltration in the area.
The infrastructure dates back to the 1970s, and some of the original pipes developed small leaks that required patching. Rehabilitation work consisted of chemical grouting along with refreshed pipe lining to sections of pipe on McNabb Street, South Market Street, and Boundary Road, made possible by a $2.5 million CCBF investment.
The project was completed in July 2024 and ensures longevity for the infrastructure and reduced risk for future damage to the road surfaces.
