Township of Beckwith Rehabilitates 2.5 Kilometres of Roadways

Some significant roadwork was completed in the Township of Beckwith last year using investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund.

The Township invested its funding into improvements on Cedar Crest Drive and 10th Line East.

Cedar Crest Drive is a residential roadway in one of the Township’s earliest subdivisions. In 2021, the Town prioritized the restoration of 1.4 kilometres of Cedar Crest Drive. The road had deteriorated to the point where extensive cold patching was driving up maintenance costs and no longer improving its condition. Not only were the potholes a hazard to vehicles, but also to residents using the roadway for cycling and walking. With the road fully rehabilitated, the Township expects lowered maintenance costs and good surface quality for several years.

On 10th Line East, Beckwith rehabilitated 1.1 kilometres of roadway. Both the road and the shoulder were deteriorated along this stretch due to it being a high traffic area. Even though this portion of 10th Line is a dead-end, it leads to many of Beckwith’s multi-use trails, attracting residents and visitors on ATV’s, bicycles and more.

Rehabilitation of both of these roads benefits residents, but also ensures safety for all travellers and extended lifespan of Beckwith’s roads.
