Updated Roadway Benefits Residents, Tourists in Lake of Bays

Lake of Bays Township, located in the Muskoka region of Ontario, is a beautiful municipality with tourist traffic during the summer months.

In 2021, the Canada Community-Building Fund assisted the Township with funding a major road rehabilitation project to not only improve the road for travellers, but also for its local residents and school buses.

Dwight Beach Road runs along the northern portion of Dwight Bay on Lake of Bays. It’s a main vein in the community, leading to the municipal office, school, public works office, and the community beach.

The road was in poor condition, with several sunken ruts and rough areas. The condition of the road was bad for tourism and hard on the community’s school buses, and also made it difficult to maintain throughout the winter months.

In 2021, the Township completed resurfaced Dwight Beach Road. With the road smoother and safer, Lake of Bays has improved lifespan and durability while reducing risk of liability to the municipality.
