Water Treatment Plant Upgrades in Halton Region
Halton Region completed a major infrastructure renewal project at the Burlington Water Treatment Plant.
The Region receives approximately $20 million each year from the Community Stream of the Build Communities Strong Fund (BCSF). An additional $20 million per year is shared among the four lower-tier municipalities in Halton.
Supported by more than $8.2 million from this funding, the Water Treatment Plant project helps ensure local residents and businesses continue to receive safe and reliable drinking water.
The project modernized the facility's pumping and liquid oxygen systems through the replacement of critical process, electrical, and control infrastructure.
Completed while maintaining uninterrupted plant operations and continuous drinking water service, the upgrades have improved system reliability and resilience, extended asset life and operational efficiency.
