Whitby Upgrades Lighting at Local Sports Fields

A well-loved sports facility in the Town of Whitby is getting a much-needed upgrade thanks to the Canada Community-Building Fund.

Iroquois Park, a large outdoor recreation space, will see upgrades to its lighting at two baseball diamonds and a soccer pitch.

According to the Town, not only were the previous lights outdated and at the end of their serviceable life, but the lighting poles also required replacement.

Using investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund, lighting at all three fields will be upgraded to LED, which is brighter, longer lasting and energy efficient.

The fields are used daily during the spring, summer and fall. With the project recently tendered, the new lighting will be ready for the upcoming season, ensuring the community can continue to enjoy the fields for evening and night time games.
