Kearney Replaces Large Culvert on Busy Roadway

A roadway that serves a number of permanent and seasonal residents got a major overhaul last fall, thanks to the Canada Community-Building Fund.

The Town of Kearney replaced a 31-foot culvert and re-paved an important portion of Echo Ridge Road – a project that was identified in as priority by the municipality’s Operations Manager.

Echo Ridge Road sees significant traffic, as it serves three popular lakes, and sees many seasonal travellers who use the road to get to their cottages.

It’s also a main road that leads to Camp Kearney, and outdoor education centre within the Toronto District School Board.

The previous culvert had dropped, leaving a dip in the roadway that was hazardous to travellers, and required replacement as it was more than 15 years old.

This new infrastructure enhances safety on Echo Ridge Road, and will mediate flood risk to the area.

The Town of Kearney installed a culvert on Echo Ridge Road in the fall of 2021.
